How to install Openvpn on B525-65a Modem

Since the last release of the Openvpn Client 2.5 for modem B315s-936, many VPN Enthusiasts in the Philippines and abroad have paid much attention to sir Jerome Laliag, the developer of the Openvpn Client 2.5 for the typical 936 modem. His profile gathered thousands of visits and his inbox has been flooded with huge messages from spectators. All the messages have one thing in common and that is the question, "Whats next?". If you will imagine how long the line of modems be, different modems, different colors and different specifications need the openvpn client same as the B315s-936. Whats' next in line? The B525-65a.

All the errors on the previous clients has been corrected and considered to this new release.

How to install openvpn on B525-65a modem.

Installing openvpn client on B525-65a modem is pretty much the same with the B315s-936, the only diffence is that we have to do some additional steps to make a clean install. Just follow carefully all the instructions below. You need to take your time in doing all the steps to avoid any errors or possibly hardware issues on the modem itself. Before we install the openvpn client we need to re-flash the modem by following these simple steps.

1. Download the B525.zip and extract to your desktop.
2. Open the ADB drivers and install all necessary drivers. Right click on DriverSetup.exe and run as administrator.
3. Go to Task manager and check under process tab if DriverSetup.exe is still running. If its gone then installation is done.
4. Lets go back to the main folder and lets head over to HUAWEI DRIVERS and then right click on DriverSetup.exe and again run as administrator. Check on Task Manager under process tab once more.
5. Remove the Board from the housing and locate the 2 soldered tip to short or jumper. (See the video below.)
6. Short the 2 soldered tip using copper strip or any metal available.
7. Now plug the power adaptor in. No Led light indicates that the modem is now on usb mode.
8. Plug in the Male to Male USB on both ends (Modem and PC).
9. Open up Device Manager and Huawei Mobile Connect should appear on the ports.
10. Run B525s-65a_Balong_USB_Loader_1.0.1.10.exe and wait until 100% and 3 Huawei ports should appear under ports.
11. Run B525s-23a_Update_11.190.65.00.00_AT_04.01.exe then click on Start until "Ready to download" appears.
12. Do not touch anything on the modem to avoid interruptions.
13. Once flashing is done, all the lights will lit up then you have to unplug the USB Cable on both ends.
14. When wifi led lit up, unplug the power adapter.
15. We need the modem to get to the USB mode again. Repeat the step 6.
16. Run B525s-65a_11.190.61.00.372_Huawei_RELOADED_v2_2019.exe
17. Once finished (All lights will lit up), Unplug the USB Cable on both ends.
18. Press and hold the reset button on the back of the modem for at least 10 seconds.
19. Connect to the modem using LAN or Wifi and access its Admin Web User interface by going to 192.168.8.1

Now that the modem is prepared, lets go ahead and install our Openvpn B525 or Openvpn B525 and B310as Customized. PW: edgardomurillojr
1. Once downloaded, extract the folder to your desktop and run install.cmd.
2. Do not interrupt the installation process until its done. Don't mind if the modem reboots.
3. Once connected, head over to 192.168.8.1:8080. If it prompts for a password, please enter username: jerome Password: laliag
4. Upload your config and its ready to go.

Please stay tune for the next post.

  7. Is there a chance to install wireguard? It's really fast and performant! I'd like to use it as a first layer of encryption.
