Modem Unlocking

Modem is really essential in our vpn, so we really cannot avoid dealing with it. There are tons of modems available in the market today that we can actually use as a medium for our vpn, however, we will only discuss few. Lets know more about it and lets get it unlocked.

Globe AT HOME PREPAID WIFI is another convenient way on connecting to Globe Telecom's LTE nationwide coverage. The modem is locked to 4G (LTE)and does offer maximum 20 MBps speed capacity, that is 2x faster compare to pocket wifi's in the market.

Requirements:

1. Workstation (PC or Laptop preferably Windows 7)

2. Soldering Iron/Soldering Lead

3. USB 2.0 male-to-male cable (Cut and stripped)

4. Copper/Metal Strip
5. Screw driver

6. Necessary files (Download here)

Procedure:

1. Unscrew the two securing screws located at the bottom of the modem, snap the front casing and remove the front cover. Insert unrecognized sim.
2. Cut and stripped the end of the USB cable exposing the four colored wires. 
3. Solder each and every wire according to the color indicated below using soldering iron. (You may need professional assistance to avoid electrical surge and damages.)
4. Run and install ADB.exe and HUAWEI Drivers.exe

4. Once done, we need to boot the board to its USB mode by shorting the two shot pins (two red dots above) using metal strip. While shorted, connect the the other end of the USB cable to your workstation.

5. Open device manager and a port should be added.

6. Run B310as-938_Huawei RELOADED 2019_11.326.01.00.1342.exe (Password: jhowel22 credit to Jhowel Gracio Huerto) Wait until the blue led light and 2 signal bars to go off.
7. Disconnect the power cable and the USB cable.
8. Power on the modem and access the modem Web UI by going to http://192.168.8.1 user: admin pass: admin and change quick settings.
9. Download and install putty.exe and input to host: 192.168.8.1 and click the radio button that says, "Telnet".

10. #root should appear, then type the word "unlock".. wait for the notification that the modem unlock is successful. The modem reboots.
