A telecommunications firm in the Philippines, DITO Telecommunity Corporation was formerly known as Mindanao Islamic Telephone firm, Inc. (Mislatel). It is posing a threat to the telecom duopoly held by Globe Telecom and Smart Communications as the third largest provider in the nation.

Here are some key points about DITO Telecommunity:

1. Ownership: China Telecommunications Corporation, Udenna Corporation, and Chelsea Logistics Corporation, a subsidiary of Udenna Corporation, jointly own DITO. Dennis Uy is a businessman from the Philippines who owns Udenna Corporation as a holding company.

2. Services: DITO wants to offer the Philippine market top-notch telecommunications services, including internet, texting, and voice calls. The corporation has promised to cover 37% and 84% of the Philippine population, respectively, with internet speeds of up to 27 Mbps in the first year and 55 Mbps in the second.

3. Launch: In July 2019, the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) granted DITO a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity. Subsequently, in March 2021, DITO commenced its commercial operations.

4. Network Development: In keeping with its pledges, DITO is constantly broadening the reach of its network and enhancing its offerings to serve a greater number of customers throughout the Philippines.
