Modem Unlocking

Modem is really essential in our vpn, so we really cannot avoid dealing with it. There are tons of modems available in the market today that we can actually use as a medium for our vpn, however, we will only discuss few. Lets know more about it and lets get it unlocked.

Huawei B315s-936

Debranding and Unlocking Procedure:

Requirements:

1. Workstation (PC or Laptop preferably Windows7)
2. Male to male USB 2.0
3. Screw driver
4. Copper strip

Procedure:

1. Download all necessary tools and drivers here.
2. Open the folder and run ADB Drivers.exe then HUAWEI Drivers.exe respectively.
3. Remove the 2 securing screws found at the buttom of the modem. (Warning: Tampering the sealed screw will void any warranty.)Remove the front cover to access the board. Refer to the image below:

4. Locate the boot pins and short it using any copper or metal strips. (To access its USB Mode). Plug in the power cable while the the boot pins are shorted. (Indicator: no led lights) Refer to the image below. Be careful in doing this trick not to short other pins aside from the 2 red dots below.

5. Connect the male to male usb 2.0 cable to the back of the modem and the other end to your worksatation. Open device manager and a port will be added. 

Flashing and Debranding

6. Run B315s-936_UPDATE_21.329.01.00.1342 (Pass: jeromelaliag)

Wait until the end of the process. You will see the below screen when flashing is done. Disconnect USB cable and remove power adaptor.

Unlocking/Openline

7. Place an unrecognized sim card to the modem then power it on.

8. Connect to the modem via wifi or lan cable.

9. Run Putty.exe and input on host: 192.168.8.1 and click on the radio button that says telnet, then click open.

11. Type the word "unlock" then press enter. The modem will reboot. Wait for the modem to reconnect.

12. Exit out putty and go to the modem dashboard by going to http://192.168.8.1 username: admin password: admin 

13. Change admin password and modify wifi name or pass depending on your preference.
